Roster Freak Out: Week 2

Now that the season is fully underway, I wanted to resurrect a fun column called the "Roster Freak Out."

The premise is simple and very similar to your typical "walking into 10th grade chemistry class with no clothes on" dream: imagine you have a fantasy team with zero players, and you've got to build a team solely using players available in free agency. Who do you pick week-to-week?

What can Sanu do for you? Probably not much...

The goal is to actually build a team that beats at least one of our UMassBallers teams. If you accomplish that feat, we call it a win. If not, it's a loss.

Surprisingly, I was able to get more than a couple wins last year, and I'm terrible at fantasy football. Without further ado, here are my picks from the runts of the litter...

QB: Josh McCown - Lots of QB options, and none that I really like, but with Doug Martin out, I expect plenty of passing; hopefully the O-line gels around Mankins.
WR: Mohamed Sanu - Will be the #2 receiver with Marvin Jones and Tyler Eifert out; if Atlanta doesn't smother A.J. Green and leave this guy open, then they're worse at football strategy than me.
RB: Stevan Ridley - RB is always the shallowest in terms of FA depth; just praying for a goal-line plunge from the former top back.
TE: Marcedes Lewis - Average TD threat going up against a terrible team? I like it.
W/T: Jared Cook - Saw a solid number of targets and this team is going to need to throw the ball a lot in comeback mode.
W/R: Denarius Moore - He actually led the Raiders in targets; just a matter of time before Derek Carr is allowed to air it out - likely trailing late against the Texans.
W/R: Rod Streater - Insurance against Moore busting.
K: Shayne Graham - New Orleans offense will be in scoring range all day against hapless Browns.
DEF: New Orleans - Cleveland's receivers would not start on any other team in the NFL, and they may miss Jordan Cameron this week. ESPN to hold a 72-hour Johnny Football segment following the game until Browns management relents.
